Itinerary

Start the day with the visit of the best preserved Slovene medieval town Škofja Loka, the history of which dates back to 10th century. Learn stories about the plague, architecture and ownership over the city in the last centuries.

Continue to Julian Alps region and walk along the gorgeous Vintgar gorge.

After the visit to the gorge proceed to Bled, one of the most visited destinations in Slovenia. You will be astoned by the oldest castle in Slovenia (first mentioned on 1011), which is perched atop a steep cliff. Besides the historical museum learn about the autochtonous Carniolan honey bee in castle bee house, print your souvenir postcard on Gutenberg’s printing press … and above all enjoy one of the most spectacular views in Europe. The famous Bled cream cake is a must try. Take a ride on a special »pletna« boat to the island in the middle of the glacier lake. There you can ring a wishing bell in the church devoted to Saint Mary on the Lake, once a place of worship for pagan ancestors. The veduta of Bled castle and the church on the lake is often presented as a symbol of Slovenia.

Drive along the scenic road to another glacier lake Bohinj, a holiday destination for many Slovene families, and have some siesta time to enjoy the unspoiled green surroundings. Drive back to your accomodation.
