Itinerary

Visit Bled, the alpine pearl of the Julian Alps. The oldest castle in Slovenia, which is perched atop a steep cliff, was first mentioned in 1011. Besides the historical museum learn about the autochtonous Carniolan honey bee in the castle bee house, print your souvenir postcard on Gutenberg’s printing press … and above all enjoy one of the most spectacular views in Europe. The famous Bled cream cake is a must try. Take a ride on a special »pletna« boat to the island in the middle of the glacier lake. There you can ring a wishing bell in the church devoted to Saint Mary on the Lake, once a place of worship for pagan ancestors. The veduta of Bled castle and the church on the lake is often presented as a symbol of Slovenia.  

After Bled continue your trip to Postojna and discover one of the largest and most spectacular carst caves in the world – Postojna cave. Enjoy a ride with a train inside and an easy walk surrounded by stalactites and stalagmites. At the end of the visit you might see a »baby dragon« – a small »human fish«, the olm, which can live up to 10 years without food. 

On the way back to your accomodation stop (foto stop) at Predjama castle, the largest cave castle in the world and listen to the story of the Slovenian Robin Hood, called Erazem.
